COMMUNICATING ACROSS DIFFERENCES

Never before in history have we had to relate to so many people of so many cultures with so many diverse views. Being able to integrate differences and achieve 'mutuality' with others is no longer an interest, it is a necessity. Given the rapid pace of change in our times, communication between generations is more challenging than ever before. Families are confronted with how to establish, and maintain a sense of connection and values, that is relevant to a variety of generations and lifestyles.

As we are able to make contact with more and more people in more and more locations, there is a sense of less and less community and neighborhood and connection with others. The challenge to actually connect, not just by technology and information, but with real meaning, confronts all of us. At the same time as we are called upon to resolve differences at a new level, we are also more and more able and encouraged to think for ourselves, to express ourselves, to find out who we really are, to be individuals. How does a person resolve differences without a loss of self or without diminishing another?

The Communicating Across Differences program has been designed to address the issues that arise when people with different views interact together at home, at work and in their communities. In this program we will address that which is fundamental to resolving differences by communication in a way that is not compromising to either point of view. We will introduce a new perspective of communication, conversation and listening that allows for this integration of views. The program begs the question "What is communication?" "What does it take to collaborate with others?" "What does it really take for people to work together?"

The thrust of the course is to establish a basis of synergy, teamwork and collaboration. We accomplish this by providing a communication-based methodology for the orchestration of accomplishment, including a means for dealing with differences and disruptions.

Tuition for this program is $350.

Each basic program is two days long.
